Tourist offices:

TheMonteromano Astronomical Observatory has been operational since 1999 and was built entirely thanks to the work of the Gruppo Astrofili Antares.

The structure recalls a kind of “spaceship”, pointed south, inside which there is a cylindrical body of a 5 metre external diameter surmounted by a rotating cupola in fibreglass. The “tip” of the spaceship houses the Panoramic room (capacity about twenty persons) which is wholly faced in glass to provide a roof of stars, as if you were in a natural planetarium.

Observatory activities include a series of public evenings – usually about ten a year – in which the place is open to everyone free of charge. Those who want to enjoy use of the telescope in a more discreet and contemplative way are advised to book evenings of extraordinary opening. For school groups specific educational modules in the classroom can be organised prior to the exciting experience of observation in the cupola.

Timetable:
Hours: to be agreed upon with the Antares Association
Donations – In the case of evenings organised outside the programme, individuals and groups are asked to donate to defray the Observatory’s expenses.

Directions: Take the road that runs from Brisighella to Marradi. Pass the locality of S. Cassiano and, before the bridge on the State Highway that marks the boundary with the Province of Florence, take the right fork in the direction of S. Martino in Gattara. After 200 metres turn right again and head in the direction of Monteromano. The Observatory is on the left, about 2 kilometres beyond the built-up area of Monteromano, going about 500 metres beyond the fork for Fontana Moneta.
