XVII century complex. There is a venerated statue of the Madonna (ceramic 1626).
Explaination: The Sanctuary of Monticino stands on the third hill of Brisighella surrounded by cypress trees. It is a symbol of devotion to the effigy of the Madonna. This is a ceramic statue made in 1626 which originally stood on a pillar at the village gates, in 1662it was transferred to this retreat built with donations from the faithful. The first building was knocked down in 1758 and subsequently replaced by the current building, in the apse there are frescoes by Savino Lega a painter from Faenza. The main altar is covered in marble and surrounded by Ionic capitals covered in stucco and decoration. In 1926 the Sanctuary was given a new facade donated by cardinal Michele Lega the design of which was based on a drawing by Edoardo Collamarini.
Additional notes: On the 8th of September every year since 1662 one of the oldest celebrations in the area is held in honour of the Madonna of Monticino.
Opening hours:Weekdays: from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm. Closed Saturday mornings between 9.00 am and 10.30 am.
Sundays and public holidays: from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm. Holy mass is celebrated each Sunday morning in the months between June and September.
