Address: Viale Baccarini

Tourist offices:

Large ceramic relief by Domenico Matteucci, located in the viale della Stazione.

Explaination: This is one of the first Faentine monuments to be made completely in ceramics, that has not been conceived as an insert or cladding for a building. It dates back to 1976 and consists of a kind of wall, a block in which a stylised figure has been engraved, to the limit of abstract art. The glaze is of a lovely white. On the back is the inscription, dictated by professor Giovanni Cattani: “Giustizia e Liberta: due parole una sola idea, splendida nel loro sacrificio” – Justice and freedom: two words one single idea, splendid in their sacrifice.

Directions: This monument is easy to reach from viale Baccarini, where it is located on the left hand side (for those going towards the station) on a slightly raised flowerbed and shaded by two majestic beech trees.
