Description: The two cloisters are quite different from each other: netiher of the two is complete, in the sense that both have only two free sides whilst the remaining two sides are closed. The left side is the largest with sandstone columns that have recently been attributed an exact date as they have the initials of Karolus and Zanone Zanelli, two important Faentine ceramists of the mid 1400’s and the most probable commissioners of the work. The upper part of the cloister on the side that runs along the church of the Servi still has traces of gothic architecture. Important elements are also the portal of the ancient chapter house with the decorated terracotta arch rim and the four large cedar trees that provide shade to the courtyard with well. The left cloister is more recent and has been altered more and has beautiful brick columns with sandstone capitals.

Directions: Entrance to the two cloisters is via the main entrance of the Municipal Library with the same opening hours, i.e. open every day on weekdays with closure between 1.00 pm and 2.30 pm. The entrance is on via Manfredi at the end of piazza Martiri della Libertà in the city centre.
