Address: Piazzetta San Rocco

Tourist offices:

Description: The church has 1500’s origins, given that the Fraternity of the same name that had its site here emerged in Faenza in 1519. The façade is in brick and was restored and made simpler in the second half of the 1800’s. Originally there was also a portico on the left that extended towards S.Maria ad Nives.Inside there are interesting works of art, amongst which a rare statue depicting San Francesco di Paola of 1758 by the Bolognaise sculptor Carlo Sarti, called “il Rodellone”, and then an altarpiece by Giuseppe Orioli, a painter from Mantua of the school of G.Gioseffo Del Sole, of which three works have recently been discovered in Faenza.

Directions: The church is always closed due to the lack of a true management and because of the damages caused by the earthquake of Spring 2000 that have not yet been repaired. The fraternity it belonged to of 1500’s origin has been recently restored and the restoration of the building is predicted for the near future. To reach the church from the centre: take Via Severoli (from the corner at the top of the piazza heading west), then left into Via Castellani and then right into Via Tonducci that continues across the intersection with Via Cavour as does Via Fiera. The church is at the end of the street in a small square that was the so-called “prato di San Rocco” (St. Rocco’s lawn).
