Explaination: The church has uncertain origins that are surely ancient, at least dating to the XIII century (the ancient tradition of the banners donated to the people of Faenza by the Count di Vitry and brought to this church date it back earlier to 1080). The building seen today is fruit of a radical reconstruction operated in 1835 on the design of Pietro Tomba junior. The interior, in the great arch of the presbytery, was decorated by Michele Chiarini, whilst the apse basin in the vault and in the side chapels is the work of Romolo Liverani. Several “minor” paintings and some interesting furnishings complete the decorations.
