The Roman colonisation left an indelible mark in the landscape of the area of Solarolo through the “centuriazione” (division of land and determination of borders), witnessed by the existence of many “villas”.

The town centre, dating back to the 14th century, was almost totally destroyed during WWII: the Manfredi boundary wall, a few private houses and some structures of the Molino – Mill (operating in 1397) is what remains of the old built-up area. The old gate has been rebuilt near the ruins of the old fortress.The economy of Solarolo is mainly agricultural and some valuable craft activities such as: The “Macramè of Solarolo”, i.e. the traditional lace with fringes made here with a special finish.

The Solarolo Oktoberfest is organised by the town municipality and held in the last weekend of September in co-operation with the Unisono Association of Kirchheim am Reis.
